Iowa Wrestling recruits will be in action at the U.S. Marine Corps Cadet and Junior National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota. Known as the largest wrestling tournament the world, the action begins with Cadet Freestyle on Saturday, July 15 and concludes with Junior Greco Roman and Women’s Duals on Saturday, July 22.  

Members of the Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2017 and 2018 will be in action. For the Class of 2017, Zach Axmear at 152 lbs.(North English, IA), Jacob Warner at 195 lbs. (Washington, IL), and Aaron Costello at Hwt.(Dubuque, IA) will be competing in freestyle. Recruiting Class of 2018 member Anthony Cassioppi at Hwt (Roscoe, IL) will also be competing in freestyle.

Warner won a Cadet title in freestyle and Greco-Roman in 2015 at 170 lbs.  Last fall, Warner captured a bronze at the Cadet Freestyle World Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia.  Costello placed sixth in Greco-Roman and qualified for nationals in freestyle last year and Axmear was also a qualifier in freestyle.  Cassioppi placed second in freestyle and third in Greco-Roman at Junior Nationals last year.

Axmear, Warner, and Costello are members of the Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2017 that was ranked as the number one recruiting class in the country.

Junior Freestyle: Session V – Finals, Medal Matches & Awards  2PM – 5 PM
