Iowa Wrestling will have an open mat on Saturday morning before the football game. An open mat is an unsupervised voluntary workout for Iowa and Hawk Club wrestlers. There will be some very entertaining hard wrestling going on, as always. This is always a great opportunity for fans to get a first look at this year’s squad and at the new recruits. There is always a buzz in the preseason in anticipation of the upcoming season.
The doors of the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex will be open at 8 AM and the workouts will be between 8:30 and 10:30 AM. The bleachers will be pulled out and fans are welcomed to to attend.
Iowa Football opens the season with a home game against Wyoming at 11 AM. I know that for many fans, making their way to the Iowa Wrestling room is a big part of their gameday experience.
I will be there taking in the action. Hope to see a good crowd there.
