Former Iowa wrestlers and current Hawkeye Wrestling Club members Alex Meyer and Sammy Brooks will be competing in the U23 World Team Trials on October 7-8. The Mayo Civic Center in Rochester, MN will be the host for the World Team Trials for Mens and Womens Freestyle and mens Greco-Roman.
This is the first year for the Under 23 years old division for the UWW. The winners of the trials will represent Team USA at the first ever U23 World Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, November 21-26.
Meyer, and All-American at 174 lbs. for Iowa, will compete at 85 kg (176 lbs.) in Greco-Roman. Brooks, a two-time All-American at 184 lbs. for Iowa, will compete in Freestyle at 86 kg (189 lbs.).
