Lauren Louive of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club placed third at the Klippan Lady Open in Klippan, Sweden. Louvie, competing at 59 kg/130 lbs., dropped her first match against Norway before defeating a Romania by fall in 1:10 to win the bronze. This was the biggest international performance to date for Louive.
Former Iowa NCAA national champion Terry Steiner, the head coach of U.S. Women’s Freestyle, was a coach in the tournament. Steiner is now heading to Kiev, Ukraine to coach in the XXII Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial on February 23-25.
