Iowa Wrestling freshman Jacob Warner was named as the 2017 Tri-County Male Athlete of the Year by the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame. Warner received the award at the GPSHOF introduction banquet on April 7 at the Peoria Civic Center.
Warner won his third state wrestling title last season for Washington, IL and a Junior National title in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman. He was the top rated high school wrestler in the country last year at 195 lbs. Warner also won a Bronze at the 2016 Cadet World Freestyle Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Warner was a highly sought after recruit that is now a redshirt freshman at the University of Iowa.
