Members of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club and former Iowa wrestlers will be in action at the 2018 World Team Trials Challenge Tournament this weekend at the RCTC Regional Sports Center in Rochester, MN.

For the HWC, Nick Dardanes (65 kg), Nathan Burak (97 kg), and Lauren Louive (59 kg) will be competing. Former Iowa Hawkeye wrestlers Mike Evans (79 kg) and Tony Ramos (57 kg) will also be in action.

All of the wrestlers listed except Ramos will be competing in the Challenge Tournament with the winner facing the U.S. Open champion in a best of three format with the winner qualifying for Final X.  Ramos won the U.S. Open and is automatically qualified for the WTT Challenge Tournament finals.

The competition for the women begins at 4 PM Friday and the men’s freestyle begins at 10 AM on Saturday.  The best of three finals for the women will begin at 1 PM Saturday and the men’s best of three finals will begin at Noon Sunday. All times are CST.

The winner at each weight at the World Team Trials Challenge Tournament will automatically qualify for Final X which will be held in three different locations across the country.  HWC members Thomas Gilman (57 kg) and Alli Ragan (59 kg) both won a World Silver last year therefore they have already qualified for Final X in Lincoln, NE on June 9.
