Spencer Lee has been named as Iowa’s 2018 Men’s Big Ten Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winner.  Lee won an NCAA title in dominating fashion this past season at 125 lbs. as a true freshman.  Lee, from Murrysville, Pennsylvania, was also named as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was also named to the Amateur Wrestling News All-Rookie team.

From HawkeyeSports.com:

The student-athletes chosen were individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior, were in good academic standing and demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Lee is just the second wrestler chosen in the sixteen year history of this award at Iowa.  Joe Johnston also won this award in 2005.

Lee was the number one recruit in the country in the Class of 2017.  I have called him the biggest recruit in the history of Iowa Wrestling and for good reason.

Congratulations to Spencer Lee on another much deserved award.
