Iowa Wrestling recruits has a great weekend of wrestling. Abe Assad stormed through the nationally tough Al Dvorak Invite in Machesney Park, IL. Assad won the title at 182 lbs. by Fall, Fall, Major Decision, and Fall to make the finals. In the finals, Assad faced Trey Sizemore of LaSalle – Cincinnati who is ranked 4th in Division I in Ohio. Assad scored the Fall in 2:27 to win the title.
For his dominating performance in the tournament, Assad was named as the Outstanding Wrestler. The Dvorak is always a tough tournament and had 37 teams from Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, and Wisconsin.
Jesse Ybarra won the title at 126 lbs. at the 17-team McClintock Charger Invitational in Mesa, Arizona. After a first round Bye, Ybarra won by a Tech Fall and Fall in 1:51. In the finals, Ybarra scored a Fall in :41 to win the title.
Patrick Kennedy won a dual meet match by Fall and Ryan Sokol won matches in two dual meets by Fall and Tech Fall.
