Iowa Wrestling recruits Zach Glazier and Jesse Ybarra won tournaments this weekend. Glazier won the title at 182 lbs. at the Rumble on the Red in Fargo, ND. After three pins, Glazier won by a major decision in the semifinals. In the finals, Glazier downed Cade King of Owatonna, 4-1 TB1. Glazier also defeated King, previously ranked #1 ahead of Glazier in Minnesota 3A, in the finals of the Minnesota Christmas Tournament on December 15. Glazier was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the 88-team tournament.
Ybarra placed first at 126 bs. at the Mile High Challenge in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Ybarra had a fall, two tech falls, and a fall before defeating Tanner Crosby of St. John’s 11-5 in the finals.
Abe Assad won by a Fall in a dual meet at Carl Sandburg High School on Friday.
Patrick Kennedy, Cullan and Colby Schriever, and Ryan Sokol do not compete until after the first of the year.
