The new year will get off to a great start for Iowa Wrestling recruits. This will be the best weekend of the year for competition overall for the incoming Iowa recruits. Abe Assad will be competing at The Clash. The 32-team dual meet tournament will take place in the RCTC Regional Sports Center in Rochester, MN. Elite teams from Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa will make this a very tough tournament.
Zach Glazier, Patrick Kennedy, Cullan Schriever, Colby Schriever, and Ryan Sokol will all be competing at The Cheesehead in Kaukauna, WI. Competition from thirty teams from the midwest makes The Cheesehead one of the better tournaments in the country every year. This tournament will be a very good test for our recruits.
Nicolar Rivera, a freshman from Stoughton, WI will also be competing at The Cheesehead. Rivera, in the Recruiting Class of 2022, was impressive in winning a Cadet Freestyle national title at 106 in Fargo last summer and is ranked sixth in the country at 106.
Jesse Ybarra does not have any competition scheduled.
