The International freestyle season is here. The new scheduling format for UWW (United World Wrestling) for International competition is about to begin. Members of the HWC will be competing around the world.
The 21st Annual Dave Schultz Memorial International will be held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO on January 24-26. The HWC will be represented by Brandon Sorensen, Nick Dardanes, Nodirjon Safarov, and Lauren Louive.
The Yariguin on January 24-27 is known as the toughest regular season freestyle tournament in the world. Krasnoyarsk, Russia is a perfect setting for a tournament of this caliber. This is also a Ranking Series event meaning that results from this tournament will determine seeds at the 2019 World Freestyle Championships. Thomas Gilman, Cory Clark, Sammy Brooks, and Forrest Molinari will be competing against some of the best competition in the world.
The Henri Deglane will be in Nice, France on February 1-3. Cory Clark, Brandon Sorensen, Sammy Brooks, and Mikaela Beck will be in action. HWC Head Coach Mark Perry will make the trip to the Yariguin and Deglane tournaments.
The Cerro Pelado will take place in Havana, Cuba on Feb 15-23. The HWC roster for that event has not been set at this time. I will keep you up to date with a roster as soon as it is available.
I will be following the HWC for results of these tournaments on Twitter, Facebook, and Hawkeye Report.
