Zach Glazier, Patrick Kennedy, and Ryan Sokol all captured State titles at the Minnesota High School State Tournament this weekend in dominating fashion. Glazier had two tech falls and a fall before defeating Cade King in the finals, 1-0. Glazier was able to ride out King in the third period for the win. King is a defending state champion and ranked #20 in the country at 182. This marked the fifth time this season that Glazier defeated King.

Patrick Kennedy did not get challenged in winning the 2A title at 182.  I also need to mention that Kennedy went up to 182 from 170 at the end of the season to help the team.  He is a true 170 lbs. wrestler. Kennedy was up 7-1 when he got the fall in the finals in 1:54. For the tournament, Kennedy was 4-0 with a Fall, Fall, Major Decision, and Fall.

Ryan Sokol had a great tournament.  After getting to the finals with three tech falls, Sokol faced two-time defending state champion Charlie Pickell of Mankato West.  Pickell had defeated Sokol 13-8 in the 113 lbs. State semifinals in 2017. Sokol was up 9-5 with back points coming when he got the fall in 5:56.  That was a huge win against a very tough opponent.

For State Duals (Sokol) and Individual State Tournament, our three recruits were a combined 15-0 with 8 pins, 5 tech falls, 1 major decision, and 1 decision.  Very impressive against some of the toughest high school wrestling in the country in Minnesota.

That concludes the high school wrestling season this year for our incoming recruits.  I will now turn my coverage to freestyle wrestling. I will do my best to let you know when and where our incoming recruits will be wrestling in freestyle this spring and summer and bring you results.
