Kayla Miracle and Michaela Beck of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club won a spot on a World team this weekend at the 2019 Women’s National Championships in Irving, TX.
Beck won a UWW Junior National Championship at 59 kg by defeating Kaylee Moore of Team Washington 2-0 in a best of three with a 12-0 tech fall and an 8-2 decision. Beck will now represent Team USA at the 2019 UWW Junior World Freestyle Championships in Tallinn, Estonia on August 12-18.
Miracle made her third straight U23 World team by winning the 62 kg U23 National Championship. Miracle won all five of her matches by tech fall. Miracle will now represent Team USA at the U23 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary on Oct 28-Nov 3.
Miracle is #1 on team USA and just won her third U.S. Open title. Miracle will be competing at the Senior World Team Trials in Charlotte, NC on May 17-18 with the winner advancing to Final X in Lincoln, NE on June 15. The winner of Final X will represent Team USA at the Senior World Freestyle Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan on September 14-22.
Kinze Brands competed at 62 kg in the Junior National Championships. Brands went 1-2 in her bracket. Kinze is the daughter of Iowa Head Wrestling Coach Tom Brands.
