Incoming Iowa Wrestling recruit Ryan Sokol will be competing at the Northern Plains Regional Championships this weekend. Sokol will compete in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman at 138 lbs. Freestyle will be on Saturday and Greco-Roman on Sunday. The action will take place at the RCTC Regional Sports Center in Rochester, MN. This is always a competitive tournament with wrestlers from around the midwest.
Sokol won a Minnesota Junior Freestyle and Greco-Roman title last weekend at 138 lbs. In winning his titles, Sokol was 6-0 with 6 tech falls and outscored his opponents 65-1. Sokol won a Minnesota AA State title at 132 lbs. this season and a Cadet freestyle national freestyle title at 120 lbs. in 2017. Sokol is from Inver Grove Heights, MN (Simley HS) and is in the Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2021.
