With over 600 wrestlers from 30 states, National Duals in Tulsa, OK had a lot of great wrestling last week. One of the better performances from National Duals was Brandon Hoselton of Illinois. Hoselton was 6-0 in freestyle and 4-0 in Greco-Roman. Other than one match at 220 lbs. in freestyle, Hoselton competed at 195 lbs. in both divisions.
In his ten combined wins, Hoselton had five falls, four tech falls, and a decision. In the finals of freestyle, Hoselton defeated Cade Dickerson of Oklahoma, 8-3. In the finals of Greco-Roman, he defeated Grant Parrish of Minnesota by a 12-0 tech fall. Team Illinois placed second in freestyle and first in Greco-Roman. Hoselton was one of twelve wrestlers named to both the Junior Greco-Roman and Freestyle National Duals All-Tournament Teams by USA Wrestling.
Hoselton is in the recruiting class of 2021 and will be a junior this fall at Prairie Central High School in Genoa, IL . He has won a state title at 195 lbs. as a freshman and sophomore and has continued to climb in the national rankings this year. I am sure he will be in a position to move up in the rankings after his performance at National Duals.
