Incoming Iowa Wrestling recruit Ryan Sokol is set to compete at the 2019 Cadet World Freestyle Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.  Sokol will represent Team USA at 65 kg/143 lbs. Qualification rounds begin at 2:30 AM CST on Monday, July 29 and the finals are slated for 10 AM on Tuesday, July 30.  Sokol and Team USA just completed a one week training camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO and leave for Bulgaria today.

Sokol was very impressive in winning the Cadet World Team Trials in June.  Sokol will be a junior this fall at Simley High School in Grover Heights, MN where he won a 132 lbs. state title last season. Sokol won a Cadet Freestyle national title in 2017.

Sokol committed to the Hawks on October 14, 2018 and is in the Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2021.
