The Hawkeye Wrestling Club will have practice open to the public at 8:30 AM on Saturday, September 7. The doors of the Iowa Wrestling room in the Dan Gable Wrestling Complex will open at 7:30 AM. The bleachers will be pulled out and fans are welcomed to attend.  In the past, Iowa wrestlers would be working out on their own at this time. Iowa football will have their Big Ten home opener when they face Rutgers with an 11 AM kickoff.

There was a great crowd this past Saturday at the HWC practice as the bleachers were full and fans were standing and sitting around and on the mats.  Only in Iowa Wrestling would you get a crowd like that over six hours before kickoff…in August. I am expecting an even bigger crowd of fans this Saturday.

Last Saturday, Thomas Gilman was talking to fans and signing autographs.  It is a tradition in the Iowa Wrestling program to be very accessible to fans to chat and for autographs and pictures.  The Living Legend himself Dan Gable was at practice. It is always a big deal to see Dan Gable.
