Iowa Wrestling had a strong showing at the Luther Open and Grand View Open on Saturday. The Luther Open in Decorah, Iowa had nineteen teams from Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin competing. Aaron Cashman(125), Carter Happel(141), Vince Turk(149), and Cash Wilcke(184) all won titles. It was the Iowa Hawkeye debut for transfer Gavin Teasdale who placed third at 133.
The Grand View Open in Des Moines had twenty-seven teams from around the country competing. Zach Glazier(197), Justin Stickley(141) and Zach Axmear(149) won titles. Glazier had a great tournament with a pin in the finals. Overall Glazier had two pins, a tech fall, and two major decisions.
The varsity for Iowa Wrestling kicks off the season at 2 PM today in legendary Carver-Hawkeye Arena against Tennessee-Chattanooga.
