Caleb Rathjen of Ankeny, Iowa has announced on Twitter that he will be an Iowa Hawkeye.  Rathjen placed second at 113 lbs. in 2018 and won a 3A state title at 126 lbs. last season. He will be a junior this season at Ankeny and has a 61-3 career record.

Rathjen chose the Hawks over several schools including Iowa State and North Carolina.  He will join Wyatt Henson and Cam Lucero in the Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2021. Set to compete at 138 this season, Rathjen is projected to compete at 149/157 in college.

I was able to see Rathjen at the Iowa Wrestling Camp last April and he is just what you would expect from an Iowa product.  He is aggressive, hard working, and always hustling on every go. His style and background will be a great fit in the Iowa Wrestling room.

To say that Iowa Wrestling is on a roll for recruiting is an understatement.  After the big recruiting weekend over Homecoming on October 19, Iowa has now received a verbal commitment from five target recruits.  In addition to that, the Hawks also recieved news today that Jaydin Eierman, a three-time NCAA All American from Missouri, will transfer into the program for his last year of eligibility for the 2021 season.

Iowa Wrestling is so hot right now out On The Recruiting Trail they are on fire.

I am hoping for more commitments for the Recruiting Class of 2021 before the high school season begins.

National Letter of Intent Signing Day for the Class of 2020 will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
