The big push to represent Team USA in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan will be in full force this weekend. The U.S. Open in Ft. Worth, TX will be the battleground as wrestlers will earn a trip to the Olympic Team Trials in State Park, PA on April 4-5.
The top 5 wrestlers at each weight will qualify for the 2020 Olympic Team Trials. 57kg is an exception where four or five wrestlers will qualify for the Olympic Trials. Four will qualify if Nahshon Garrett is in the top five, five will qualify if he is not.
The Hawkeye Wrestling Club will have Spencer Lee, Forrest Molinari, and Cory Clark competing. Lee is making his much anticipated Senior level debut after winning three World titles in the Cadet and Junior divisions. In the Pre-seeds, Lee is #1 at 57kg. Cory Clark will also be competing at 57kg and he is a Pre-seed #11. Jaydin Eierman is Pre-seed #5 at 65kg. Sammy Brooks in the Pre-seed #3 at 86kg.
Forrest Molinari is the Preseed #1 at 68kg. Molinari has represented Team USA at the World Championships the last two years at 65kg that is not an Olympic weight.
Thomas Gilman, Forrest Molinari, Alli Ragan, and Kayla Miracle of the HWC have already qualified for the Olympic Trials.
