Patrick Kennedy has been named as the 2019 Rochester Area Sports Commission Male Athlete of the Year. Kennedy was one of five finalists in one of five categories that was determined from over 100 nominations by a 14-person panel of Rochester media representatives and sports experts from Southeast Minnesota. Kennedy was named for this honor last night at a banquet at the Rochester Event Center.

Kennedy, a senior from Kasson-Mantorville High School in Minnesota, is already a three-time state champion and is ranked #1 in the country at 182 lbs.  Kennedy was very impressive in a win at Who’s #1 in Carver-Hawkeye Arena in October and is currently ranked #3 on the MatScouts Pound for Pound Rankings. Kennedy won a Junior Freestyle national title last summer in Fargo and has also won a Super 32 title.

Kennedy was named Academic All-State last season by two organizations.  Kennedy is projected to wrestle at 165/174 for the Hawks and is the top recruit in the outstanding Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2020.

It is great to be an Iowa Wrestling fan.

Go Hawks!
