Iowa will host #7 ranked Nebraska in the first of three straight weekends of great action in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The dual meet will begin at 8 PM on Saturday, January 18. The Iowa-Nebraska dual meet is always entertaining with competitive matches and there is no love lost between the programs.
The top matches will be at 165,174,141, and 184. At 165, #2 ranked Alex Marinelli will face #5 Isaiah White. #2 Michael Kemerer will face #6 Mikey Labriola at 174. It will be #6 Max Murin vs. #9 Chad Red at 141 and #10 Abe Assad vs. #5 Taylor Venz at 184. This will be a great test for Assad at 184. Iowa has the higher ranked wrestler at nine weights and Nebraska is ranked higher only at 184.
I am expecting a very big crowd for this dual meet. The late start of 8 PM will allow area Iowa high school wrestling fans to make their way to Carver-Hawkeye Arena after their tournament in time for the dual meet. Iowa Wrestling fans are very excited and will be there for this border battle with Nebraska. This will be a fun dual meet to watch.
The Iowa Wrestling program will distribute #SorensenStrong bandanas to the first 3,000 fans through the doors of Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
