After a big opening weekend across the country for high school wrestling MatScouts has released their new rankings. It is always interesting to see the exact weights that wrestlers end up at when the season begins.
Nate Jesuroga remained at #3 in the P4P (Pound For Pound) rankings and #1 at 120. Ben Kueter is again #4 at 220 but is now #25 in the P4P. Kueter had a big win at the Dan Gable Donnybrook over Gavin Nelson of Simley (MN) in the finals. Nelson placed fifth at the 2021 Cadet World Freestyle Championships (92kg/202 lbs.). Kueter scored a takedown in overtime to win 3-1 (SV-1).
Aiden Riggins went from #3 to #2 at 160. Brad Hill went from #9 at 220 to #20 at 195. Ryder Block went from #14 at 132 to #14 at 138. Mickey Griffith went from #17 to #16 at 182. Joel Jesuroga is ranked #25 at 145.
Kolby Franklin went from #5 to #4 at 195. Easton Fleshman made the biggest move in the rankings where he went from #25 to #15 at Hwt. Drake Rhodes was ranked #22 at 152 but is now unranked. Rhodes will begin his season this weekend.
There will be more movement in the rankings after the Ironman in Ohio this weekend. It is great to see the high school season up and running.
The future looks great for Iowa Wrestling.
