Victoria Francis of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club placed fifth at 76 KG at the Yasar Dogu in Istanbul, Turkey. After dropping a first round match to 2018 World Silver medalist Kuenz of Austria, Francis won her next two matches to qualify for the bronze medal match. In the medal round Francis dropped a 5-1 decision to Yerkebayeva of Kazakhstan.
The Yasar Dogu was an elite International tournament loaded with former World and Olympic champions and medalists. This was also a UWW Ranking Series Event.
Francis joined the HWC in September and is currently ranked third at 76 kg on Team USA.
