Willie Saylor of MatScouts has released the first recruiting rankings of the new wrestling season. Iowa Wrestling recruits are well represented.

In the P4P (Pound for Pound) rankings, Ben Kueter is #2 overall and #1 at 220. Kueter won a U20 World freestyle title this summer and was an All-American linebacker in football this fall. He now looks ready to dominate in his senior season of wrestling.

Nate Jesuroga is ranked at #16 on P4P and #1 at 126. Jesuroga is a perfect fit to keep the tradition at 125 going for the Hawks. Ryder Block is #3 at 138.

Gabe Arnold is now ranked #3 at 182. Arnold was at #6 when he defeated the #5 and #3 ranked wrestlers in the country in winning the Dan Gable Donnybrook on Saturday. Arnold is fun to watch and has a great future in front of him.

Elite recruit Cody Chittum has already graduated from high school and was ranked as the #1 overall recruit in the entire Class of 2022. He will enroll at Iowa next August with the Class of 2023. Chittum is projected to compete at 149/157 for the Hawks.

I will continue to have a weekly blog for a preview and a follow up for results on how our recruits are doing throughout the season.

I would not trade Block at 138 or Arnold at 182 for anyone in the country. To me they are #1 at their weight and who we want. In my opinion that makes five #1’s coming in for the Class of 2023 that I have called the greatest recruiting class in the history of Iowa Wrestling.

This group of recruits will be making their way from “The Greatest wrestling training facility…in the world!” through a tunnel to be met by yet another sold out Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The future looks great for Iowa Wrestling.
