Joey Cruz announced on Instagram that he will transfer to the University of Iowa. Cruz had entered the transfer portal after spending one year at Oklahoma. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.
Cruz was 2-2 this past season as a redshirt at 125 in his only competition of the season at the Michigan State Open. He is projected to remain at 125 for his career.
Originally from Fresno, California (Clovis North High) Cruz was ranked #1 in the country at 113 lbs. and #52 overall by MatScouts in 2022.
