It has been a long wait for fans like me since the NCAA National Tournament, but Iowa wrestlers will be in action this weekend.  The South Point Hotel and Convention Center in Las Vegas will be the host of the 2017 U.S. Open, Women’s Freestyle World Team Trials, and UWW Junior Freestyle tournament.  

The top seven placewinners at each weight will qualify for the UWW World Team Trials in Lincoln, NE on June 8-9.  UWW Juniors is for wrestlers age 17-20.  Competition for the UWW Juniors will begin at 11 AM CST on Friday.

Iowa wrestlers competing:

Paul Glynn (Redshirt freshman) – 60 kg (134 lbs.)

Carter Happel (True freshman) – 66 kg (145.5 lbs.)

Danny Murphy (True freshman) – 66 kg (145.5 lbs.)

Jeren Glosser (Redshirt freshman) – 66 kg (145.5 lbs.)

Keegan Shaw (Redshirt freshman) – 70 kg (154 lbs.)

Alex Marinelli (True freshman) – 74 kg (163 lbs.)

Kaleb Young (True freshman) – 74 kg (163 lbs.)

Joey Gunther (Redshirt freshman) – 74 kg (163 lbs.)

Matt Malcom (True freshman) – 74 kg (163 lbs.)

Jeremiah Moody (Redshirt freshman) – 74 kg (163 lbs.)

 

Members of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club will be competing in the U.S. Open.  The top seven at each weight will qualify for the World Team Trials that will be held in Lincoln, NE on June 9-10.  Action begins at 11 AM CST on Friday.

Lauren Louive of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club will be competing at 58 kg in the Women’s Freestyle World Team Trials.  The wrestling at 58 kg begins at 11 AM CST on Saturday.
