Incoming Iowa Wrestling recruits had a great weekend of competition. Abe Assad scored a first period tech fall in a dual meet on Friday and was at Carver for the Iowa-Lehigh dual meet on Saturday night. Zach Glazier wrestled up at 220 to pin the #6 ranked 3A wrestler and also had a fall over the #10 ranked opponent at 195. Glazier has competed at 195 and 220 both the last two weekends.
Patrick Kennedy was 4-0 with four pins to win the 182 lb. title at the Andover Husky Invite. Three of the four pins came in the first period. Cullen Schriever was also 4-0 with four pins at the Bobcat Duals. Colby Schriever had a fall, tech fall, and a decision.
Jesse Ybarra was 9-0 with eight bonus point victories at the Southwest Shootout Duals. Ybarra bumped up to 132 and defeated the New Mexico 6A defending state champion, 8-2. Ryan Sokol bumped up to 138 where he was 3-0 with three pins at the Ron Edwards Duals.
You have the like the way that the incoming recruits are bumping up a weigh to get to the better competition or just to help their team win. Also all of the bonus points with a lot of true pins. That’s what I like to see.
