Members of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club will be competing at the Dave Schultz International and the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix this weekend.

Four members of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club will be competing at the Dave Schultz Memorial International in Colorado Springs, CO.  Wrestlers from around the world will be competing in Men’s and Women’s Freestyle and Greco-Roman Thursday-Saturday, January 24-26.

Lauren Louive (57 kg) will compete on Thursday. Nodirjon Safarov (57 kg), and Nick Dardanes (65 kg) will compete on Friday, and Brandon Sorensen (70 kg) on Saturday.

The Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix International is considered the toughest regular season international freestyle tournament in the world.  Top ranked wrestlers from around the world will compete in the heart of freestyle wrestling country in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.

The HWC will be represented by 2017 World Silver medalist Thomas Gilman (57 kg), Cory Clark (61 kg), Sammy Brooks (86 kg), and Forrest Molinari (65 kg).  

The Yarygin is in the Ranking Series and results from this tournament will help determine the seeds at the 2019 World Freestyle Championships.

Hawkeye Wrestling Club coach Mark Perry will be in the corner for the HWC wrestlers.
