Incoming Iowa Wrestling recruits Abe Assad and Cobe Siebrecht won state titles this weekend. Assad pinned all four of his opponents to win the Illinois 3A title at 182 lbs. Siebrecht recorded a tech fall, fall, and decision before winning in the state finals with a 9-1 major decision to win the 1A 138 lbs. title.
Cullan Schriever had to withdraw from the state tournament due to injury in the semifinals and placed sixth at 120 lbs. Colby Schriever placed second at 138 lbs.
Zach Glazier, Patrick Kennedy, and Ryan Sokol all competed in state duals competition. Glazier recorded two falls, Kennedy had two tech falls and a fall, and Sokol had two falls and a tech fall.
