Thomas Gilman of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club captured a Gold at 57kg/125.5 lbs. at the Yusup Abdusalamov International in Botlikh, Dagestan, Russia. Gilman went 5-0 on the day to win the title over wrestlers mainly from Russia. Gilman received a full length cloak, hat, and a sword for winning the title. Dagestan is the heart of international wrestling where the surrounding area captures so many world freestyle titles. Gilman was the only American to compete in the tournament.
Gilman and Sammy Brooks of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club will be competing at the Continental Cup in Khasavjurt, Russia. USA Wrestling is sending 17 of our top wrestlers to compete in this world class tournament. Gilman and Brooks will both compete on October 11-12.
