It was a big weekend of competition for the incoming Iowa Wrestling recruits. Cullan Schriever (126), Colby Schriever (145), and Caleb Rathjen (138) all won titles at the Frank Baltzley Invitational in Johnston, Iowa. After a pin and tech fall, Cullan scored a 19-3 major decision over #4 ranked Thomas Edwards of Johnston in the finals. Colby had two pins before defeating #4 ranked Sam Kallem of Ankeny in the finals, 3-2. Rathjen started of with a fall, tech fall, and fall. In the finals he pinned #3 ranked James Edwards of Jonston in 3:37.
Gabe Christenson was 4-0 with two falls and two tech falls at the Bobcat Duals (Western Dubuque). Leif Schroeder was 6-0 with five pins and a tech fall at the Mining City Duals in Butte, Montana. Cam Lacero picked up three pins and placed second at the Columbine Invitational. Patrick Kennedy scored a fall in a dual meet Friday against Triton. Wyatt Henson placed seventh at the Ironman, the toughest tournament in the country, after dropping two real close matches to national caliber competition.
I was unable to get results for Bretli Reyna at District 16 Duals this weekend. Jesse Ybarra did not compete this weekend.
I will be back next weekend as several of our recruits will be in action at very big tournaments before the holidays.
