Four off our incoming Iowa Wrestling recruits were in action this weekend. Jesse Ybarra won the 126 lbs. title at the Peoria Invitational with a :30 and :50 fall and a tech fall before a 9-3 decision in the finals. The title made Ybarra a four-time Peoria Invitational champion. Ybarra was named as the Outstanding Wrestler and inducted into the Peoria Invitational Hall of Fame.
Brentli Reyna was 4-0 against some real good competition at the Virginia Duals in Hampton, Virginia. In his last match he defeated #20 nationally ranked Dashawn Farber of Nazareth, 11-10. Wyatt Henson won all of his matches by fall to win the 138 lbs. title at the Winner’s Choice in Fairmont, West Virginia. This was a quality tournament with thirty teams from three states.
Cam Lucero won the title up a weight at 152 lbs. at the Rocky Mountain Wrestling Tournament. Lucero had a fall and tech fall before getting a fall in 1:31 in the finals.
We have quite a few recruits that did not have any competition scheduled this weekend in Patrick Kennedy, Cullan and Colby Schriever, Gabe Christenson, Leif Schroeder, and Caleb Rathjen.
There will be a full slate of competition for our incoming recruits next weekend.
