Three members of the Iowa Wrestling program competed at the Lindenwood Open in St. Charles, Missouri today. The Hawks ended up with two champs and a third place finish.
Cullan Schriever won the title at 133 lbs. in the Gold Division. After a first round bye Schriever won by a 22-4 tech fall and fall in 3:32. In the finals Schriever won by a decision over Tanner Cole of Central Oklahoma 6-2 for the title. Schriever is a redshirt freshman from Mason City, Iowa.
Wyatt Henson won a title at 141 lbs. in the Fresh/Soph division. A first round fall was followed by a 10-3 decision. Henson then recorded a fall in the quarterfinals and a 10-0 major decision in the semifinals. In the finals Henson defeated Teague Travis of Oklahoma, 2-1. Henson is a true freshman from Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
Sebastian Robles placed third at 157 lbs. in the Fresh/Soph division. Robles had a first round pin followed by a 7-5 OT win in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals Robles dropped a 4-0 decision. In the consolation rounds Robles won a 4-3 decision before winning a 10-0 major decision over Alex Vislosky of Oklahoma in the third place match. Robles is a true freshman from Tucson, Arizona.
