Iowa had nine wrestlers compete at the UNI Open in Cedar Falls.

Drake Ayala won the title at 125. Ayala won both of his matches by a major decision, 16-6 and 11-3. This is the first competition of the season for Ayala. Last season he stepped in for Spencer Lee at 125 as a true freshman and was an NCAA National Qualifier. Ayala has grown into the 125 lbs. weight class and looks to be ready to go for next season. Drake Ayala has a great future for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Caleb Rathjen (157) and Zach Glazier (197) placed second. Rathjen went 2-1 and Glazier was 2-0 before a medical forfeit in the finals. At 133 Jace Rhodes placed third and Jesse Ybarra was fourth. Rhodes defeated Ybarra 1-0. Easton Fleshman placed sixth at Hwt.

Competing and not placing were Carter Martinson (157), Jude Link (174), and Gage Marty (Hwt.)
