Iowa will close out the regular season with a huge dual meet when they host Oklahoma State at 3:30 PM this Sunday, February 19. It will be a great day to be an Iowa Wrestling fan.

You can always count on an intense battle every time you have Iowa and Oklahoma State going at it on the wrestling mat. I expect a very enthusiastic crowd at a sold out Carver-Hawkeye Arena that will be heard. Even though the entire state of Iowa is getting snow right now, the weather forecast looks great for Sunday.

Fans will be coming out of a long weekend of the State tournament in Iowa. This is always a peak time of year for fans. I cannot think of a better weekend for wrestling fans in Iowa than State and an Iowa-Oklahoma State dual meet.

Sunday will be Senior Day and Alumni Day. This will be the last time Iowa Wrestling fans will see Spencer Lee, Max Murin, and Jacob Warner compete in Carver-Hawkeye Arena. I have followed this group more than any I have covered for this blog. I still remember the first time I heard about these guys from Ryan Morningstar years ago. I have enjoyed covering their Hawkeye careers on my Iowa Wrestling Fan Blog.

Alumni Day is always special and means more to me with every passing year. To see the Iowa Wrestling legends of the past is something I look forward to. The connection between current and former Iowa wrestlers is unlike any that I have seen or heard of in any other sport. What an amazing tradition. We have a great recruiting class coming in that may be in the crowd. It is always good to see the torch being passed down from one generation to the next.

The Hawkeye Wrestling Club will have a Pre-Match Social at Joe’s Place starting at 12:30 PM Sunday before the big Iowa-Oklahoma State meet. Joe’s Place is located at 115 Iowa Ave in downtown Iowa City.

I have been informed that there will not be a H.A.W.K. party on Sunday following the meet.

There will be a Black Out for fans at the dual meet Sunday.

BTN will have live coverage of the Iowa-Oklahoma State dual meet. Mark Ironside and Steven Grace will be on 800 AM KXIC, iheartradio.com and hawkeyesports.com.

I am expecting an intense and entertaining dual meet Sunday that will be great for fans in Carver, in front of their TV, radio, or computer.

Iowa Wrestling is my entertainment. I plan on being entertained Sunday.

It is great to be an Iowa Wrestling fan.

Go Hawks!
