The tournament season is here and it was a real good weekend for our incoming Iowa Wrestling recruits. Our recruits were 11-0 with ten pins and a tech fall and also picked up two forfeits in District finals this weekend.
Keyan Hernandez had a dominating performance at the Montana State Championships in winning the title at AA 120 lbs. On his way to the finals Hernandez had three first period pins in :45, 1:25, and 1:04. In the finals Hernandez defeated Cashton Spolar (Helena Capital) by a 20-5 tech fall in 5:07 to win his third state title. Hernandez led Billings West to a AA state title.
It was Districts in Iowa and all four recruits won titles. Kale Pertersen had a pin in 3:13 in the semifinals before pinning Charlie Showalter (Hampton-Dumont-CAL) in 0:29 in the finals for the title at 132.
Ryder Block had two first period pins in 1:39 and :32 before receiving a forfeit in the finals at 138.
Gabe Arnold had pins in 2:08 and 4:27 to win a District title at 182. Ben Kueter won his fourth District title with a pin in the semifinals before receiving a forfeit in the finals at 220.
The Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament will be next week, February 15-18.
