The Hawks are on the road with a dual meet at Minnesota on Friday, February 3 at 8 PM CST. You can always count on an entertaining meet with this border battle. Also a loud fan base.

Iowa is #2 in both the tournament and dual meet rankings by InterMat. Minnesota is #23 in tournament and #11 in dual meet.

Minnesota is 11-2 on the season including a win over Oklahoma State. They have dropped a dual to Northwestern and Nebraska. Minnesota has won four straight over Michigan State, Indiana, #19 Purdue, and #29 Illinois. Last Saturday in a 24-9 win over Illinois the Gophers won seven of ten bouts when they were only favored in four matches.

The best matchup for rankings is at 125 with #1 Spencer Lee and #6 Patrick McKee. I hope we see Brody Teske at 133 from here on out. Minnesota has #14 Aaron Nagao and Jake Gilva. #2 Real Woods will have #15 Jake Bergeland at 141.

At 149 we will have #6 Max Murin against #15 Michael Blockhus. #15 Cobe Siebrecht will have either #17 Brayton Lee or Sebas Swiggum. Lee was ranked as high as #4 earlier in the season and did not wrestle Saturday against Illinois.

#7 Patrick Kennedy will return to his home state to challenge #28 Andrew Sparks at 165. At 174 #16 Nelson Brands will have #11 Bailee O’Reilly who just defeated #10 Ed Ruth of Illinois, 6-4. At this time Iowa does not have a wrestler listed at 184.

#7 Jacob Warner will face #28 Michial Foy at 197. And at Hwt #3 Tony Cassioppi will face #32 Garrett Joles.

Minnesota has been wrestling well and I look for an entertaining dual meet.
