Iowa will host Oklahoma State at 3:30 PM this Sunday, February 19 for the final dual meet of the year. This is a dual meet as a fan you look forward to every year.

Iowa-Oklahoma State, Senior Day, Alumni Day, last dual meet of the season, live coverage on BTN and the radio, sold out standing room only crowd at legendary Carver-Hawkeye Arena, this will be a good day.

There is not a match of two highly ranked wrestlers in this meet which seems hard to believe. Abe Assad listed at 184 in the Probable Lineups along with Drake Rhodes is what really stood out to me. Assad last competed against Minnesota on February 3. Assad or Rhodes will face #10 Travis Wittlake.

The only other weight with more than one Hawkeye listed in the Probable Lineups is 133. #16 Brody Teske or Cullan Schriever will face #2 Daton Fix.

My top match of the meet is at 157 with #13 Cobe Siebrecht vs. #9 Kaden Gfeller. Siebrecht looks better and better as the season plays out going up against a gauntlet of higher ranked opponents.

#14 Nelson Brands vs. #11 Dustin Plott should be a good match at 174.

At 197 #12 Jacob Warner will face #17 Luke Surber. Surber defeated at the time #1 and undefeated Rocky Elam of Missouri 5-4 in a February 5th dual meet.

Oklahoma State enters the dual with a 14-2 record with losses to Minnesota on December 4 (18-12) and Iowa State on Jan 29 (18-11). Oklahoma State defeated Oklahoma last night (Thursday), 25-6 by winning eight of ten bouts.

The Cowboys won the Southern Scuffle and defeated Michigan (24-15) and Missouri (17-16).

Sunday will be Senior Day and Alumni Day. This will be the last time Iowa Wrestling fans will see Spencer Lee, Max Murin, and Jacob Warner compete in Carver-Hawkeye Arena for the Iowa Hawkeyes. This group of seniors will be missed.

I look forward to Alumni Day every year to see the legends of the past. What an amazing tradition of winning for Iowa Wrestling.

The Hawkeye Wrestling Club will have a Pre-Match Social at Joe’s Place starting at 12:30 PM Sunday before the big Iowa-Oklahoma State meet. Joe’s Place is located at 115 Iowa Ave in downtown Iowa City.

I have been informed that there will not be a H.A.W.K. party on Sunday following the meet.

There will be a Black Out for fans at the dual meet Sunday.

BTN will have live coverage of the Iowa-Oklahoma State dual meet. Mark Ironside and Steven Grace will be on 800 AM KXIC, iheartradio.com and hawkeyesports.com.

I believe Sunday will be an extra special great day to be an Iowa Wrestling fan.
