It was another full weekend of competition for the Iowa Wrestling program. Here is a recap.

On Friday the Hawks won the first six bouts to defeat #12 Minnesota, 18-13. Iowa had starters out of the lineup at 174, 184, and Hwt. This was another good experience for the team in a hostile environment with a sellout crowd.

The top match for me was #15 Cobe Siebrecht over #17 Brayton Lee, 4-0. Siebrecht had another big opening takedown in the first :15 of the match followed by 2:45 of riding time. I was impressed by that match against an experienced veteran in Lee who began the season ranked #2 at 157.

Patrick Kennedy just keeps looking better every time out. It looks as though Kennedy has found his rhythm and confidence. I would not put any limitations as to what Kennedy can do at the NCAA Championships.

I like what I see from Brody Teske at 133. Sure I would like to see him have more matches under his belt but I believe he can score quality points for us at Nationals. I certainly see the potential beyond his #17 ranking. Brody Teske is one tough dude.

I also like what I am seeing from true freshman Aiden Riggins. He went up a weight and fought hard against the #11 wrestler in the country. Riggins has a real good future with the Hawks.

Iowa will entertain #11 Michigan this Friday, February 10 at 8 PM CST in a sold out legendary Carver-Hawkeye Arena. I believe we will see a nearly full lineup against Michigan and a fired up Iowa Hawkeye team.
