Incoming Iowa recruits Kale Petersen (132) and Ryder Block (138) made their way into the semifinals of Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota.
Petersen had two solid wins with a 6-0 win in the round of 16 and a 9-6 victory in the quarterfinals. Petersen will face Dalton Perry of Pennsylvania in the semifinals.
Ryder Block has been rolling through the competition. He had a 17-5 tech fall over future teammate Koye Grebel in the round of 32 and another tech fall in the quarterfinals. For the tournament Block is 5-0 with four tech falls and a pin. Block will face Landon Robideau of Minnesota in the semifinals.
After his loss to Block in the round of 32 Grebel picked up two wins in the consolations by tech fall before being eliminated from the tournament with a 4-2 record.
Keyan Hernandez (120) dropped his round of 16 and consolation wrestle back matches to be eliminated from the tournament with a 3-2 record.
Petersen, Grebel, and Block are in the Recruiting Class of 2023 and Hernandez is in the Class of 2024.
