Members of the University of Iowa Women’s Wrestling team competed at Senior U.S. Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas this weekend. The top five at each weight qualified for the Olympic Team Trials.
Marlynne Deede placed second and Rose Cassioppi was fifth at 76 kg to qualify for the Olympic Trials. Deede won three matches before dropping a match in the finals to Precious Wieser.
Deede defeated Cassioppi 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
Ava Bayless, Emilie Gonzalez, Brianna Gonzalez, Alexandra Baudhuin, and Esther Han did not place.
The 2024 Olympic Team Trials will be at Penn State on April 19-20.
