Spencer Lee defeated Nico Megaludis 6-2 in the finals to win the Senior U.S. Nationals title at 57kg/125 lbs in Fort Worth, Texas. Lee looked good in the finals that began with three takedowns for a 6-0 lead.
Lee scored two tech falls to qualify for the finals. I believe Lee is looking better with every tournament and he will be ready to go for the Olympic Trials.
Alex Marinelli placed second at 74kg/163 lbs. After three wins Marinelli dropped the finals match to Quincy Monday.
Austin DeSanto placed fifth at 65kg and Tony Cassioppi placed fifth at 97kg to also qualify for the Olympic Trials.
The top five in each weight qualified for the Olympic Trials. Jacob Warner placed sixth at 97 kg and Jayden Eierman and Jeremiah Moody did not place.
Former Iowa Hawkeye All American Dan Erekson placed eighth at 125 kg.
Next up will be the 2024 Olympic Team Trials at Penn State on April 19-20.
