Next up for my Big Tens preview is 133 lbs. I mentioned in this blog several times over the season that we may not know who the starter at 133 will be until Big Tens.
Well, here we are. It went back and forth at 133 for Cullan Schriever and Brody Teske throughout the season with Teske taking the spot for the last two dual meets.
Who will take the mat in Maryland for Big Tens? We will all have to wait and see. Therefore I will post the results of both Schriever and Teske for my preview.
Schriever is 8-3 on the season and ranked #20 by InterMat. Schriever is 2-2 vs. ranked opponents this season.
Teske started off the season at 133 for the Hawks with a major decision against Cal-Baptist. He is 11-4 on the season and 2-3 against ranked opponents. Teske bumped up to 141 in dual meets to win a decision against Illinois and a tech fall against Northwestern.
The Big Ten has wrestlers ranked #5,8,10,11,16,17, and 18 ahead of Schriever at #20.
There will be 7 automatic qualifiers from the Big Ten at 133 for the 2024 NCAA National Tournament.
It will be interesting to see where the Hawk at this weight will be seeded.
