We will have an All-Hawkeye clash in the 57kg finals in the Olympic Team Trials. Spencer Lee and Thomas Gilman will meet in a best of three format in State College, Pennsylvania. The winner will represent Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris, France on August 5-11.
#4 seed Lee defeated Nico Megaludis 8-0 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals Lee jumped out to a 9-0 lead over 57kg 2023 World Team member Zane Richards before securing a 13-6 decision.
#2 seed Gilman started with a 5-4 decision over Jax Forrest in the quarterfinals before defeating Daton Fix 6-0 in the semifinals.
In my Olympic Trials preview I predicted Lee over Gilman in the finals.
We also have wrestlers competing in the Consolations. Alex Marinell (74kg), Kylie Welker(76kg), Reese Larramendy(68kg),and at 53 kg Felicity Taylor will face teammate Brianna Gonzalez.
The first round of the Best-of-Three Finals matches and Consolations will be at 9:30 AM CST. You can watch the matches on Peacock.

9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Session III – Round One of Best-of-Three Championship Series, all styles and weight classes, plus Round Two of Best-of-Three Championship Series in the five weight classes not yet qualified for the Olympics. Also the completion of the Challenge Tournament consolation semifinals, consolation finals, third place bouts and True third (in necessary)
5:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. – Session IV – Round Three of Best-of-Three Championship Series (if necessary) in the five weight classes not yet qualified for the Olympics. Followed by Round Two and Round Three (if necessary) in the 13 weight classes qualified for the Olympic Games. The session concludes with the presentation of the U.S. Olympic Team.
