Iowa-Iowa State. When the schedules come out every year you circle the date. The 2024 edition of Iowa-Iowa State will take place at 6 PM on Saturday, November 23. Legendary Carver-Hawkeye Arena will be packed with a pre-season sold out crowd.
When you are a wrestling fan in this great state, this is what you look forward to.
I have no doubt that this year’s dual meet will be another exciting and entertaining event.
There are multiple wrestlers listed at nearly every weight. Assuming the ranked wrestlers compete, Iowa will be favored at six weight and Iowa State at four. With that thought in mind you would have to call this dual meet a toss up.
The dual meet will be decided at 133,149, and 157.
Of all the great matchups I am most looking forward to 149 with #4 Kyle Parco vs. #6 Anthony Echemendia. These are two very talented seniors that will entertain us. The winner of this match could decide the dual meet.
At 133 we have #7 Drake Ayala vs. #4 Evan Frost. Don’t blink during this match. This will be an explosive match that will be fun to watch.
#1 Jacori Teemer vs. #8 Paniro Johnson at 157 also has the potential for fireworks. Should they start at 125 this match will lead into the halftime break and could set the tone for the rest of the meet.
I am also looking forward to #12 Ben Kueter vs. #4 Yonger Bastida at Hwt. especially if the dual meet is on the line.
Hey, every match is going to be a battle as we as fans anticipate and expect.
Let the hype begin and let’s enjoy wrestling in Iowa.
