The University of Iowa Women’s Wrestling team will begin the 2024-25 season at the Luther Hill Invitational hosted by Simpson College on Saturday, November 2.
The wrestling will begin at 9 AM at Blake Fieldhouse in Indianola, Iowa.
TrackWrestling will provide coverage of the Luther Hill Invitational.
The Hawks begin their second season in program history as the defending NCWWC national champions.
Kennedy Blades will make her debut as an Iowa Hawkeye. Blades won silver at the Paris Olympics this summer at 76kg. She was also a 2021 U20 world champion, 2023 U20 bronze medalist and a 2023 U23 silver medalist.
Blades transferred into the program this summer and is listed as a junior at 160 lbs. on the roster.
This will also be the first time that we see true freshman Naomi Simon in action for the Hawks. Simon is the biggest recruit to ever come out of Iowa for girls wrestling. She was an undefeated four-time state champion for Decorah with a career record of 150-0. Simon won the Bronze medal at 76kg at the U20 World Freestyle Championships in Pontevedra, Spain in September.
Iowa will have nineteen wrestlers compete at eleven weight classes.
