It was a big weekend for Iowa Wrestling. The Men’s and Women’s teams both competed in dual meets and the Hawkeye Wrestling Club was represented in Finland.
Iowa defeated Princeton 39-3 and Army 23-16 at the Journeymen Wrestling Uncivil War in St. Charles, Missouri on Friday.
Iowa won 15 of the 20 bouts with bonus in 11 matches.
The Hawks won nine of ten matches against Princeton with six straight matches with bonus points for the 39-3 win. Kyle Parco(149), Miguel Estrada(157), Michael Caliendo(165), Nelson Brands(174), and Stephan Buchanan(197) all had tech falls.
Drake Ayala(133) and Gabe Arnold(184) had major decisions and Ben Kueter(Hwt) had a decision.
Iowa won six of ten matches against Army. All four losses were from backups filling in. Patrick Kennedy and Stephan Buchanan both had tech falls and Parco and Caliendo had major decisions.
Iowa will compete next at Soldier Salute on December 29-30 in Coralville, Iowa.

Austin DeSanto and Otto Black both won Gold medals at the Arvo Haavisto Cup in Ilmajoki, FInland in Greco-Roman.
DeSanto was 4-0 with four tech falls to win the title at 60kg. DeSanto is new to international Greco-Roman and it looks like he is improving quickly.
Black bumped up to 67kg and was 5-0 with four tech falls.
DeSanto and Black outscored their opponents by a combined match score of 80-5.
Last weekend DeSanto won bronze and Black silver at the Haparanda Cup in Haparanda, Sweden where both competed at 63kg/138 lbs.
DeSanto was competing for the Hawkeye Wrestling Club. Black is a member of the Iowa Wrestling Recruiting Class of 2024 and is expected to join the team in January for the second semester.
On Saturday the University of Iowa Women’s team was 5-0 at the Jewel Duals in Liberty, Missouri. Iowa is now 28-0 all-time in dual meets.
Iowa went 45-2 at the duals with the two losses being forfeits. The Hawks finished the day with 19 tech. falls and 10 pins.
Iowa won their first dual meet against William Jewell (B) 53-0 followed by defeating #7 Lindenwood 47-7. Iowa then topped Missouri Baptist 50-8.
In the fourth round Iowa defeated Fort Hayes 44-1. In the featured dual Iowa defeated host school] #25 William Jewell 40-2.
Macey Kilty and ReeseLarramendy led the tournament with four tech falls each.
Iowa will compete next at the NCC Open in Naperville, Illinois on Sunday, December 15.
