Leister Bowling committed to the Iowa Hawkeyes on November 9, 2023. Bowling, from Longmont, Colorado, won a 175 lbs state title for Mead High School last year and placed second at 157 as a sophomore.
Bowling is a member of the Recruiting Class of 2025 and is projected to compete at 174/184 for the Hawks.
Bowling was a 16U All American in Greco-Roman and placed second at the 2024 Greco-Roman U20 Nationals at 77kg/169 lbs.
Bowling won the Luther Open in Decorah, Iowa on November 9 at 174 lbs. in the Fresh/Soph division with two tech falls and two decisions over college competition. That was an impressive performance.
As I have done for years I am following all of the incoming recruits for Iowa Wrestling throughout the high school season. I will start with a season preview this week and the high school season will be in full force this weekend.
