University of Iowa freshman Angelo Ferrari has been named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week and Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Ferrari won an exciting 6-3 match in overtime at 184 over previously undefeated and #3 ranked Dustin Plott of Oklahoma State on Sunday.

This was the pivotal match in Iowa winning the dual meet over Oklahoma State, 21-16.

Ferrari is the third Hawkeye to earn Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors this season (Kyle Parco on Jan. 9 and Drake Ayala on Jan. 23).

Ferrari was the 2024 #1 P4P (pound for pound) ranked wrestler in the country by both FloWrestling and MatScouts. Ferrari was also the overall top recruit for Flo for the Class of 2024 when he was a junior.

Originally from Melissa, Texas, Ferrari won a state title at 175 lbs. last season.

Ferrari is 11-1 on the season with four tech falls and three major decisions. He won the 184 lbs. title at the Grand View Open and Soldier Salute.

The Iowa Hawkeyes will be back on the mats on March 8-9 at the 2025 Big Ten Championships in Evanston, Illinois.
